Corporate Leadership Award
Matthew G. Deckinger
MGD Consulting Inc

In the course of a close 25-year personal and professional relationship with EPIC Board Member Randy Lang, Matthew G. Deckinger has been attending and supporting Epilepsy Foundation events and causes since early in the century. He has become an increasingly passionate and dedicated supporter of EPIC Long Island, in furthering the EPIC mission. He maintains this support, while making sure we all keep our sense of humor, remembering that his first love is his family.

It is our pleasure and privilege to present Matthew G. Deckinger of MGD Consulting Inc with the 2020 Corporate Leadership Award.

Matthew grew up in Queens, NY, and graduated from New York University in June 1969, with a Bachelor of Science degree. That same year, he began working as an actuarial trainee at The New York Life Insurance Company. In 1974, he switched to pension consulting, still an actuary, working for 20 years variously first at Coopers & Lybrand, and later The Wyatt Company. In 1994, he started MGD Consulting, still specializing in pension consulting, where he remains active today. In addition to his client work, he has also presented to professional organizations on various pension-related topics. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary under U.S. Treasury Regulations.

In addition to professional responsibilities, he manages a private 501(c)(3) Foundation, which is exclusively dedicated to funding eligible national and community organizations.

His outside interests include a love of baseball, particularly the Yankees, and a love of St. John’s University, especially St. John’s Basketball, and all the many educational programs, and – above all – a love of his family.

He lives and works in White Plains, NY, and he has two wonderful grown children, James and Carolyn, each of which have provided two even more wonderful grandchildren, Max, Micah, Izzy and Wyatt (all four not yet grown).
