Investing in Our Future: Meeting the Needs of our Community

34,000 patients are seen in our emergency department every year. We take pride in providing our patients with the highest level of quality medical care and the best possible patient experience. Our recent collaboration with St. Francis Hospital and the new addition of our state-of-the-art cardiac CT scan ensures that our community has access to the finest technology right here at St. Joseph. In addition, our newly renovated Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is a unit designed for rapid assessment and treatment of patients whose medical needs can be addressed within a 24-hour period, avoiding unnecessary inpatient admissions.

Our extraordinary nursing and medical staff provide outstanding medical care; however, our current emergency department is nearly 20 years old and requires expanding and upgrading in order to meet the needs of our community. When seconds count, the ability to quickly diagnosis and treat patients effectively is critical. The goal of the emergency department renovation is to improve patient and family satisfaction by significantly improving patient flow, efficiency, and privacy.

Plans for the new emergency department design include:

  • Improved patient accessibility through a more functional design that will provide efficient and high-quality emergency care;
  • Newly designed patient treatment rooms with enhanced privacy;
  • New bedside cardiac monitoring system;
  • New rapid access area resulting in shorter wait times, less than 20 minutes in most cases;
  • State-of-the-art nursing station;
  • Direct access to our new cardiac CT scan.

The cost to renovate the Emergency Department is more than $5 million. New technology is expensive; however, the benefit for you, your family and our community at large is immense. With your generosity and support, together we can make a difference!
